This is an introductory course in Sign Language which will provide student- teachers with basic skills in sign language. For students who are being prepared to teach students who are deaf, this course forms the basis on which they will build competence in signing. For students who are not specializing in Deaf Education, the course provides adequate signing skills for use with learners of other populations who may benefit from the use of sign language as an alternative or augmentative form of communication. Students will develop skills in exchanging personal information and expressing basic needs.
