This course examines the cognitive resources in music making and music listening.
This course examines the cognitive, social, and biological basis of our ability to
perceive, remember, appreciate and produce music. To help counsellors develop
music knowledge and understanding of students through listening activities and
guided discussion this will lead to an appreciation of music as therapy in clinical
settings. As students explore the philosophy of music, different musical genres, the
theory of notation and the art of song writing it is intended that they will appreciate
their culture and the cultures of others.
